Hi, I'm Lauren! Welcome to Styled by Slawby! In the last few years, I lost both of my parents to cancer, was let go from my career in La Jolla, moved back to Orange County, renovated my childhood home, all while trying to navigate life while grieving. I realized life was too short, and that’s what led me to launch Styled by Slawby! Every career path that didn’t work out led me here. I never thought this could be my “job", styling was always just a pipe dream. But in reality, I’ve been training my whole life for this. I wanted to create a company where you don't need to be Kris Jenner to have a personal stylist. Styling should be a fun and seamless process, on any budget! The one thing that makes me happy in the dark times, is feeling put together in outfits that make me shine! I’ve always been the “fashion emergency” friend. Answering the 911 call on downlow in the midst of my 9-5, ready to quit my job at a moment's notice for the look. I have years of experience freelancing and consulting for major fashion companies as well.

A little background, I grew up in Newport Beach, California with parents who were 16 years apart. My mom was a wildly Type A Virgo, whose incredible sense of style, artistic skills and interior design knew no bounds. My dad was a mellow, witty lawyer, and stepping foot in a department store was his own version of hell. Any department store, or store in general, was my mom’s version of heaven. Her world (and eventually mine) revolved around shopping. She was my style muse, although I would never admit it during my teenage years. Growing up, there wasn't a time where I wasn’t in a detailed matching outfit and a handmade bow. I even wore a monogram engraved baby bangle, which I think subconsciously sparked my love affair with jewelry. One thing my parents could agree on, was their love of antiques. We frequented antique stores on the weekends which sparked my obsession for antiques and vintage. If I could live in a scene out of Mad Men, I would. My most prized possessions are my family photo albums dating back to 1908. I love to flip through them and get inspo from the “good old days”.

I saw an interview with Ralph Lauren years ago that always stuck with me. In it he’s wearing a flannel shirt from KMart. The woman interviewing him is floored that he isn’t wearing one of his own designs. Ralph explains that he’s had the shirt for decades, and he loves how he feels it, and all the memories he’s had while wearing it. That’s what I wanted to create with Styled by Slawby. I believe you don’t need to spend a fortune to look fabulous! You don’t need obscenely priced fast fashion or the latest designer item with logos all over it to make you “fashionable”. I can help you achieve looks on any budget, body type, style - to make you feel unstoppable. When getting ready for high school, my dad used to say to me “Lauren, what are you getting ready for your wedding, why is this taking so long?” It doesn’t matter if it’s my wedding or just a random Tuesday, I’ll always live for the outfits. It's just who I am.

I’m so thrilled to launch Styled by Slawby! I know I can help you create your dream wardrobe.

PS This is a soft launch, so please be extra patient with me! 🙂
